versioning problem !! 12 Years, 7 Months ago
Hi,

I've used GoGlobal XP for Windows since its version 2.1 and have been upgraded several times. I've found that some client web browsers (through ActiveX controls mode) are not responding when connected to a particular version of the Go-Global server or below. These web browsers had connected to different versions of Go-Global servers before, and now stopped responding to the old version 3.0.2.2930 (for example) but response to a newer version 3.0.3.3074. It may be the cause of incompatibility between versions. Is there any way to solve the problem easily using a scripts or similar method because the client is located at remote office and he /she have very little computer knowledge.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

The ActiveX control is not downward compatible. If the client is connecting to GO-Global servers with various versions installed, then they will need to remove the ActiveX control when connecting to a server with lower versions. There is no script available for this, but generally if the client removes the IEGCtrl class file from the OS “downloaded program files” directory (typically "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files"), then goes through a command prompt to that same directory and removes print.ini, and then clears the browser cache, this resolves the issue. There might also be some CONFLICT.# directories in "downloaded program files" and if they exist they need to be removed through a command line.

There are more details in an FAQ on this forum, "How do I Remove the ActiveX Control." If you need further assistance, please submit a problem report:
