TOPIC: Console applications (including DOSBox)
Console applications (including DOSBox) 13 Years, 1 Month ago
Can you tell me the reason why I can't run console applications with GGW ? We have several vertical market applications that are either Win32 console applications or DOS applications (using a 32-bit DOS extender though) and I'd like to use GGW to publish them to a small remote office. I know that at least Citrix works well with both, windows console applications as well as DOS applications - as long as they run in a console window. People told me that a plain Windows Terminal Server should work as well.

GGW seems to be a good choice for our needs because WTS and Metaframe would be an administrative and cost overkill for this specific purpose.

Could you please comment on why it isn't possible to use console applications with GGW and if there are any plans to solve this issue ?

Thank you,

We currently do not support running Console applications because they typically make use of a command-line or DOS window. While it is technically feasible to support Console applications, low customer demand and other priorities have placed our focus on other key aspects of the product.

MS DOS consol with GO-Global is possible 12 Years, 7 Months ago

Please note that for 2 of our customers we are publishing a DOS consol and it works just fine.

To do so, it is very easy :

1) Download a VT emulator (We have used Putty in both cases)
2) Activate the Telenet Server of you GGW machine
3) Publish Putty
4) Write a small script whihc will open the Putty Telent session...

End of the story.
