TOPIC: Web access won't work
Web access won't work 13 Years, 1 Month ago
Running current ver on a win 2003 server. On the intranet system works well. However, when I attempt to access system over the web I get the message that the APS is not running (have checked and it is in fact running). I have also checked to see that both port 80 and 491 are open bidirectionally. I have gone out on the web over an wireless connection within our office without any problem. When I am outside the office using the same logon approach I get the APS error. What is going on?

The APS error is an indication that the client can not reach the server. In most cases this is due to port 491 not being open.

Since you've tried that route already I would verify the client. Are you using the native client, Java client or ActiveX control? If you're using either of the last two, make sure the respective web client and HTML code have a valid (public) IP address or DNS name that can be resolved from the outside. Look for the HOST parameter. If this is indeed the issue, you might want to create seperate pages for internal and external access.
