Windows XP SP2 Firewall seems to be droping Go-Global 13 Years, 1 Month ago
Hi...
under Windows XP with SP2 Firewall activated, the Go-Global session is working for the most things fine. But if the Client tries to open a terminal like window (with active funktions in there) on the server...-> the window do not open. I have deactivated the firewall and then all is working perfekt.

I can not find the problem! Do you know what i should configure in the firewall settings???

Kind Regards
Smu

p.s.: the firewall setting -> enable program (Go-Global UX) is not working....still the same problem

Smu,

There are no known issues with Windows XP SP2 and GO-Global for Windows. The firewall is obviously blocking some port access so I would start by turning on firewall logging (Manage security setting for Windows Firewall -> Advanced) and reviewing the output of the log file (C:\Windows\pfirewall.log). Make sure you check both Logging Options.

Keep in mind that GO-Global only uses TCP port 491 for all communications between the client & server.

Thanks Erik for the fast reply!

The Port 491 is open for Go-Global. The only one what i can find is:
2004-10-12 14:29:17 OPEN TCP "my Client-IP" "my Server-IP" 2129 491 - - - - - - - - -
2004-10-12 14:29:32 DROP ICMP "my Server-IP" "my Client-IP" - - 84 - - - - 8 0 - RECEIVE

So...but with this Information i can not find the ICMP protokoll which was droped!?

I'm not sure I have a good answer for you... What is the terminal window you are referencing? If it's a DOS (cmd.exe) window, note that we do not support this (regardless of any firewall). If it's terminal emulation software, perhaps the application itself requires further permissions or port access?

I don't know if I can help or not here but I thought I'd ask for clarification -- the original post refers to GO-Global UX (our UNIX product), but is in the GO-Global for Windows forum... so is the original poster using GO-Global for UNIX or GO-Global for Windows?

Secondly, I don't know how much it helps, but the firewall log could be referring to ICMP protocol 8, which is Echo Request, aka ping.
