TOPIC: 4.0 upgrades?

4.0 upgrades? 4 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
It's been a while since I looked at GoGlobal maintenance, but I have a 4.0 windows host that is getting long in the tooth, so I had thought about upgrading various bits and pieces to get to a vaguely current state. Naturally, this is dangerous to do with windows updates prior to GoGlobal updates, so I wanted to ask here about upgrade procedures.

So

Single standalone windows 2003 SP2 x86 that hasn't run windows update since installing GoGlobal
GoGlobal 4.0.1.12187 according to the cluster manager

Looking at the host download page, I see only 4.7 so how would I go about getting the latest 4.0.x installer to do the upgrade? Perhaps I am already at the latest for 4.0.x? Though it's kinda scary to do a windows update on a version that isn't getting much maintenance anymore.

Or have things changed so much that I need to do a license upgrade form submission and upgrade/install 4.7? Are there fees for switching up a license from 4.0.x to 4.7.x?

Generally speaking, it is safe to install the latest update on top of the existing version as long as the major versions (4.x) are the same. Given the age of your version however, I recommend a full backup to be safe. You will also want to update your GO-Global client software.

If you know that your support maintenance is current, your license will be upgraded automatically during the Host installation (provided you have a live Internet connection).

If your maintenance is expired, you can use the online upgrade request form: www.graphon.com/customer-support/upgrade-form
