Local printing issue 6 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Good Morning.

One of my custoners is using Go Global to connect an external sales store to their main office. Now there is a problem with printinng on a local printer at the sales store. Test pages can be printed without any problems, but when trying to print from any application within go global, nothing happens. Is seems, as if the print job is not transmitted to the local print queue. Any idea what i can do?

Ok,
then my check list as a gg user is:
1. Check if the printers are using the universal driver ( that is go the the server, check the driver used!)
2. If not, delete the exisiting, go to cluster manager printer settings, click just the universal driver (not the use as fallback) uncheck all the other printer options. Then install the driver with the universal printing from your client gg window.
3. Make sure that you have the adobe acrobat reader installed at the client pc and also open locally a pdf document to 'accept' any dialogs in the reader.
4. Check if the application use printer schemes like this printer for statistics / that printer for invoices...In that case it is very possible that you need to provide the client computer name to the application, so add the executable to the compatibility registry setting!

Hope this helps...

Hi theodore,

i'll check the points you've listed as soon as possible and post the results.
Thanks

Tantalus

P.S: IIRC the printer uses a native driver. Will try universal first before doing something else.

Ok, status update:

using the universal driver didn't change anything. But i've fount a 90%-solution. I deleted the existing printer both in windows (client-side) and gg. Then installed new in windows, configured in gg. Printing now works with one little flaw: for each print job, adobe reader starts and shows the print job as pdf. The user has to klick on "print" in adobe reader to finally get the print job on paper. Any idea what is causing this?
