Netscape security model is no longer supported. 7 Years ago Karma: 0
I am trying to use the java applet client to access a graphon server. (version 3.2.0.4152).

The applet seems to be working except for printers and local file access. When I take a look in the log of the applet I see the error:
"Netscape security model is no longer supported.
Please migrate to the Java 2 security model instead."

about 200 times..

I did some research and it appears that only old JRE's support this "Netscape security model". Therefore the applet can not get the required privileges to access local printer or files.

Is there a way to use the java applet including printers and local files?

PS: I am already using the signed applet

Can you confirm that you have enabled the Printers and Drives option in the Cluster Manager? Another sanity check is to make sure you are able to print and see local drives using the native client or browser plug-ins.

Confirmed. When using the activex component printing and file access works fine.

Here is my javascript code btw:

Code:

var debug = false;
var applet = new Object();
applet.code    = "com.graphon.ggw.Logon";
applet.archive = "ggw.sunsigned.jar,ggw.res.jar";
applet.nos     = "ggw.netscapesigned.jar,ggw.res.jar";
applet.cabcount= 2;
applet.cab     = "ggw.mssigned.cab,ggw.res.cab";
applet.name    = "GO-Global for Windows Applet";
applet.title   = "GO-Global for Windows Applet";
applet.alt     = "GO-Global for Windows Applet";
applet.vspace  = "0";
applet.hspace  = "0";
applet.width   = "1000";
applet.height  = "630";
createAppletTag( applet, [
"host", "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx",
"args", "",
"desktopcolor", "",
"compression", "true",
"hostport", "491",
"autoconfigprinters", "all"
] );

Sjef,

Quick observation... it looks like you've customized the html file with the option:

"autoconfigprinters", "all"

I know that works with the ActiveX and plug-in but without checking further, I'm not sure that's a valid option for the Java client.

Looks like you're also working with the GraphOn Support team to get this resolved. You should hear from them shortly and they'll work with you to resolve this.
