TOPIC: Word/Excel will not launch if local drives mapped

Word/Excel will not launch if local drives mapped 7 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
GG 3.2.0 on Win 2003 R2 Standard x64, all patches.

Word.Excel 2007 will not load if local drives are allowed in Server Options. We are not enforcing GP or using scripts. No errors in Event log. GG log simply says Word launched, and Word stopped. No error messages. If we uncheck Allow access to local dives in CM, Word and Excel will launch.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If you are using an Win2K3 x64 server with version 3.2.0, I'm not sure how that is installed. V3.2 does not support the 64-bit Windows OS.

Assuming you are running a 32-bit OS, I have two thoughts...

(1) Increase the log output to level 4 and review the APS log with the higher verbosity for any errors.
(2) Another test would be to run the scenario locally first. In other words, log in to server (console) with the same user account and see if you can launch Office from there without any errors (and without using GO-Global).

Sorry - Typo. this is a 32 bit server.

I can succesfully launch both Excel and Word from the console with the same account. ALso, I can login with RDP, with local drives and launch.

I changed the logging to level 4 - There are no errors, just this. I have no idea what it means - do you

The CODE 3 error generally indicates that the system cannot find the path specified. If the application uses a UNC path, check the permissions. If that doesn't resolve the problem, I suggest you open a Case with the Support team. They can analyze this further and point you to some diagnostic tools to use.

Hi

Got exactly the same symptoms (see my new post of today) on a system. The system is set to use port 443 instead of 491 but as a test changed back to 491 and still same symptoms.

Server is Win 2003 32 bit.

With client mapped drives: Excel, Word, Explorer will not start. Without no problem.

Did this issue get solved?
