Printing via Java Client (Applet) Help Please 7 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
We are looking at going with the Java Applet solution for our clients. However, when I log into the server, I do not see my printers nor can I get it to see/configure them for printing from the program window.

Using the standard Windows or Mac OS clients (GoGlobal), we can print just fine.

Anyone else working with the Java Applet Client see/resolve this?

Thanks,
Mike V

Mike,

Make sure you are using the "Signed" applet and not the "Unsigned" applet. The former allows access to printers and other local devices. The latter only allows access to the published application.

Erik,
Here is the code for the Applet

<applet code="com.graphon.ggw.Logon"
width="1600"
height="1200"
archive="ggw.sunsigned.jar,ggw.res.jar">
<param name="user" value="test">
<param name="password" value="test">
<param name="args" value="">
<param name="desktopcolor" value="blue">
<param name="compression" value="true">
<param name="hostport" value="443">
<param name="host" value="localhost">
</applet>

I assume the only jar that is signed is the ggw.sunsigned.jar - am I missing something?

Thanks,
Mike

Actual code from the signed html source page (javalogonsigned.html) is:

<!--
var platform = new whatPlatform();
if( platform.os2 )
{
location.replace( "os2plugininstaller.html" );
}
else
{
var debug = false;
var applet = new Object();
applet.code = "com.graphon.ggw.Logon";
applet.archive = "ggw.sunsigned.jar,ggw.res.jar";
applet.nos = "ggw.netscapesigned.jar,ggw.res.jar";
applet.cabcount= 2;
applet.cab = "ggw.mssigned.cab,ggw.res.cab";
applet.name = "GO-Global for Windows Applet";
applet.title = "GO-Global for Windows Applet";
applet.alt = "GO-Global for Windows Applet";
applet.vspace = "0";
applet.hspace = "0";
applet.width = "1000";
applet.height = "630";
createAppletTag( applet, ["host", "", "user", "", "password", "", "application", "", "args", "", "desktopcolor", "", "compression", "true", "hostport", ""] );
}
//-->
</script>

I'm not sure on the applet code differs or how that would impact printing but you might open a Case with the Support team to see if they have any additional insight.
