Licensing error after adding new license file 8 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

After adding a new license file, users get a license error and I get the following error in the log:

'user' on 'server', aps (3440) Failed to obtain a license to access the session for the following reason: Cannot write data to license server system. (Error code: -17).

The license files are named license.lic, license1.lic and the newest license2.lic

When i preform a status requiry with the lmtools.exe utility i reports back the correct numbers of licenses issued.

when i remove the new license file again, it works ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

when the error occours the process blm.exe takes up 25% of the cpu time, when the task is killed, users are able to login again, then it runs for some time again without errors.

Any ideas??

This appears to be an error coming from the license engine itself (not the GO-Global APS service). Not sure on the exact cause of the error but check the DEP settings on the server. You may want to add lmgrd.exe to the DEP exception list. A similar report and suggested resolution is reported here.
