QuickBooks keep session from terminating 8 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
My company is a new GoGlobal customer.

We publish donor management software for nonprofits. Our software talks to QuickBooks through the Intuit API.

We are using GoGlobal to host our software and have installed a user's copy of QuickBooks into the user's folder, and are having a lot of problems with it. The most annoying is that when you run QB at all, then exit out of GoGlobal, the session will not terminate. I have to go into Cluster Manager to terminate the session myself.

Have others been successful at hosting QuickBooks in this way? Any tips?

Thanks,

Gene,

Two thoughts; (1) Make sure you are using (at least) version 3.2.1 release 4420 and (2) Review the APS log files for any indication as to why the session is not terminating properly.

Thanks for replying and for the tips.

It turns out that there is a GraphOn Article C0007 titled "Lingering processes hang GO-Global sessions" on the subject. Essentially, QB is misbehaving and must be registered as a System Process in the registry. For the record, in case others are looking for this, here is what to do:

1) run Regedit
2) browse to HKLM\Software\GraphOn\Bridges\1.0.0\System\Processes
3) create a DWORD entry with the name of the executable (in this case, it needed two: qbw32.exe and qbdbmgr.exe)
4) set the value to 1 if the full path to the executable is specified, or 2 if just the base name. I used just the base name, so that it would apply to all of my users.
5) close
