TOPIC: Reset Printer.ini

Reset Printer.ini 8 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

we user activeX client for our published applications. we published the applications with all local printers - but the most users have 10 or more printers - the login times are up to 60 seconds.
is there a way to reset printer mapping to default (i have tried to set it in activex and tried it with full client - but all printers are all times mapped - the only way i found ist to delete the printer.ini).
we have about 600 users and they are not in an active directory - i can not delete the printer.ini via login script. maybe there is an undocumented switch to reset printer settings (GoGlobal server are version 4420, the most clients 4389 - next month i update the clients to version 4420 with the new printing functionality)

thanks

In the AX client, you can force the default printer by editing the html file (looseactivexlogon.html) and specifying the autoconfigprinter parameter.

When autoconfigprinters="all" all client printers are automatically configured. When autoconfigprinters="none" client printers are not automatically configured. When autoconfigprinter= "default" the default printer is configured automatically. This is the default setting.

Example:

<OBJECT ID="Control1" WIDTH=0 HEIGHT=0
CLASSID="CLSID:76850F2A-FCAA-454F-82D3-BD46CB186EF5"
CODEBASE="ggw-activex.cab#Version=2,0,0,0" >
<PARAM NAME="user" VALUE="Jane">
<PARAM NAME="password" VALUE="Doe1">
<PARAM NAME="host" VALUE="server1">
<PARAM NAME="autoconfigprinter"= "default">
<PARAM NAME="isembeddedwin" VALUE="false">
<PARAM NAME="compression" VALUE="true">
</OBJECT>

Another recommendation when using that many printers, is to use the Universal Print Driver (UPD) in the latest release 3.2.1 (build 4420 or later). This release has a new approach to using the UPD and does not require Adobe Acrobat on the client.

Hi,

i have tried to set
<PARAM NAME="autoconfigprinter"= "default">.
But users which already have a printers.ini get all printers. Only new users get default printer.
I´ll try to make a support ticket.

thanks.
