Windows 2003 access denied to server share 8 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
I have a Windows 2003 AD network enviroment where the users have been disallowed the rights to the Start/Run command through group policy on there XP SP3 boxes. During the intial test of GoGlobal we used an XP box as the GG server and with the path and start in commands set as \\server\share\program.file everything worked fine. When we migrated to a Server 2003 box and set the paths the exact same way we are getting a failed to launch application error. When I check the log file it is showing the error OS denied access. I thought it might be DEP causing the problem so I added the exception for the application being run there; but that did not help. Here is the kicker, if the user logs into the console of the 2003 server one time, logs back out, then goes to a remote machine and uses GG, everything works like it should. I just don't want every user to have to come by the main office and log into the server so GG will work properly. Anyone have any ideas?

I am having a similar issue. In my case, using a remote control product, LogMeIn the application launches but will not launch using the GGW Client.

May be related to what you are seeing. I will be launching the application direct on the Windows 2003 server as you describe to test this.

Is your application a .Net app?

No my app is not a .net app. I'm pretty sure that my problem is with my group policy that does not allow the domain users to use the run command which also limits them from searching via UNC paths. I've made a workaround by publishing the cmd.exe and launching my app from that. May be something you want to try also.
