Print preview Acrobat Reader cannot be turned off? 9 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi people,

Please help me with the following. One of my clients is having the issue that to print something on client side using the universal printer driver and Adobe Reader 8.5 it will always give a preview. They don't want that and it should be possible to turn it off.

I do not have the problem myself. Is there anything (besides the obvious instruction for turning of the printer's preview option) that we should do to get rid of the previews?

Many thanx in advance,

We've hit the same problem with Adobe Reader 8.5+ (it seems that the "unsupported" /t silent print option has been removed).

I'd also like to know if there is a way around this?

Here's a workaround that may do the trick...

You can change turn off the print preview from within a file called "print.ini" on the Client side. Look for the file in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\print.ini (in XP)
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local (in VISTA)
or do a search from the CMD prompt.

Make a backup copy of the original "print.ini" file and then edit in notepad. Look for the PreviewState parameter near the top and change it accordingly.

PreviewState= 0900000009 ( Turn Print Preview OFF)
PreviewState=0500000005 (Turn Print Preview ON)

Don't make any other changes to this file as you can corrupt this file.
