Microsoft Office 2003 'Preparing to install' message 11 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I have installed MS Office 2003 on two dependent servers and one relay server the exact same way (same folder, etc.) When I launch Word I get the (should only see this the first time) preparing to install dialog box everytime on the same test user. I have roaming profiles installed on the user and I have confirmed that is working correctly. Also it is no longer asking for the users initials when going into Word after the first time so I know Word is acknowledging that it is not the first time.

I did not install Office per the way prescribed by Microsoft for Terminal Services as I didn't think I needed to but am not sure now.

Please advise.

Thanks

We have found that the best way to approach Office 2003 on GG is to make sure of the following:

1. When doing the install, be sure to install Full (everything on disk)

2. Give users modify rights to c:\program files\microsoft office

3. Make sure the newest MSI is installed like this one: www.softwarepatch.com/windows/wininstallnt.html

hope this helps...

When install office, you can select ''all run on this machine" and some item is not sutible in terminal enviorment for performance issue.so can suggest not instll
1.Animation Sound Effects on PowerPoint option
2.Html sourceediting-web scripting on office tools option
3.Microsoft office shortcut Bar on office tools option
4.Office Assistant on office tools option(Office Assistance will cost
bandwidth if need use it,still can install it.)
5.IME-voice & hand-write on office share function

In order not appear install when first time click office application
1.build a test user with administrator right.logon goglobal and click all the office application once.test user will had right install some initinal file form office source. And let the rigister user name blank.
2.Backup default user folder in C:\Documents and Settings.copy ntuser.dat file from test user's profile to default user profile and over right it.
3.delete the test user account.if already had others user profile in document and setting folder.delete it.and your user first time logon goglobal.will create new profile form all user and default user folder.the default user folder already had office initinal file.so the user can run office application fine without any barrier.

this method works with other office family product like One note,Visio,Project

good lock
