Setting up printing 11 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
New user wanting to set up printing.
The VAR this was purchased from stated the client has the printer (and obvious driver), the server has to have the print driver and you will be able to print out of your application. Doesn't seem to be working although there were cannot find printer before server had driver installed. Now acts like print goes thru but no dice. Could someone point me to some documentation on this. Would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

It's suggest has printer driver installed on goglobal server. Some time it will auto map client printers good.If it impossibal do that. You can using univeral driver as fallback, that user's pc had pdf viewer can be print to client printer without printer driver.

If you do not see any printer in your goglobal session.Make sure you had enable client print mapping in CM.and make sure your parameter in goglobal activex or plug-in or jave page(depend on which client you used)
the printer parameter "-ac"is set default or all or none.

When you login goglobal.you can configure printer (Program window-File-Printers-Configure Client printers) to select your printer driver.

If client don't know how to do that. You can using shadow function to control client ggw session to help them setting.

Hi,

We are testing Go Global, it seems a good product and alternative to citrix, of course ...
We have a problem with printers and printing options of the client side:

We have essentialy Lexmark printers like T632 T420 ...
With printer driver installed on each computer.

My clients want to print on their local printer and can print one time on tray 1 on another time on tray 2 or 3 or 4 and on another time recto/verso.

There is not the option for chosing the tray on universal driver.
Installing the driver on the server does not change the problem because you must go to the server side and add a hardware periph. to add new 250 drawer for each new created printer session!

It is a big problem for us with secretaries and this will decide us to definitively choose GraphOn and Go-global solution or not instead of citrix.

Printer preview trouble 10 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
We just installed GGW for the first time at a customer's site, on a Windows 2003 server, with XP workstations.

The app starts out looking good. But it crashes and disappears from the desktop if we run any report that opens a Winprint preview panel. The same report can be written to text file or sent live to a printer and it works fine. Just the preview doesn't work.

After such a crash we can only clear the crashed session if someone accesses the server and uses cluster manager to terminate it directly.

We're running an .exe compiled by a 4GL DBMS, and it uses its own runtime's WinPrintViewer.exe. We published the exe file, so that's not the issue.

The viewer must violate some rule of focus-taking or screen manipulation or memory usage.. something that allows it to work fine on a LAN workstation but not in a GGW session.

Ouy! First GGW customer... a happy customer of 12 years.. and we fell flat on our faces.

The print preview is fatal every time. Even the GGW distributor can't help us after trying every suggestion he could think of... including use of the universal driver. I can only conclude that GGW's client app runtime environment is not a fully functioning Windows emulation. Some apps are incompatible. Look before leaping!

We'd have caught it before installing at the customer site if Graphon had not dropped the single seat developer license. Our distributor quoted me the same entry level ten user license an end user would have to buy. Developer seats should cost in the low 100's, not over $3,000! So we trusted the distributor and the GGW advertising.
