TOPIC: Cant install!

Re: Cant install! 14 Years ago Karma: 0
Just read your post, Troy. The only things I would add is that in fact my file was named .tgz, not bin. We have a different .bin file for our Solaris.

But as you said, making the .tgz executable and ./ running it did the trick. Had a usual licensing hoop to jump through, which means I had to create a license.dat and paste the web message I got into it. Then stop/started the service and now all is well.

GraphOn does not provide distributions of GO-Global for UNIX in ".tgz" format, though, which leads me to believe that your file somehow got renamed in transit. If you do see a ".tgz" file anywhere on our site, I'd like to know about it, because it shouldn't be there.

installation on a fedora core 3 box fails 13 Years ago Karma: 0
ok first off your product interests us very much, the windows version runs without a hitch. Great Work! We are testing different solutions for a customer of ours and one of them is to get this running under Fedora. We have done everything in the post here changed all the permissions and so forth so that root can do anything to this file that he would want. Upon executing the file we get as far as the Enter Data screen and we get a "install script" failed error and nothing further. There is nothing in the installer_stderr setup_log files, both are 0 bytes in size, the directories /tmp/graphon_installer_logs and /usr/local/graphon are created again with nothing but the aforementioned contents. We have created a user extra for graphon called "egal" without root permissions. We have also read through the pdf manuals and havent been able to find a solution yet.
Thanks in advance.

***edit : forgot to mention we have tried both versions RHL72 and RHL90. We are trying to get the server running. As I have said the windows clients and windows servers work wonderfully. Just we havent gotten the one to work with Fedora yet.

From a GraphOn standpoint, Fedora is not a supported platform nor am I aware of anyone using GO-Global on Fedora. While the installation may work on certain other 'flavors" of Linux, we simply can't support every Linux OS. Perhaps somebody on this Forum has had success and can share their experience.

At this time, GO-Global is supported on Red Hat 7-9 (x86), Red Hat Enterprise 3 (x86), Sun Solaris 2.6+, HP-UX 11.x and IBM AIX 4.3.x. A forthcoming release (December '04) will also provide support for Red Hat Enterprise 3 on AMD64 and SUSE 9.x (x86).

Requests for support of a new GO-Global platform can be made here.
