"Not Responding" in Windows then cannot recover se 13 Years, 7 Months ago
Occasionally, when I am running CDE thru GraphOn on a UNIX box, and the client is running on a Windows box, I will get a "Not Responding" for the session from Windows. Last time this happened I restarted GraphOn and could recover the xterm's from a suspended session, but the CDE session (separate from the xterm session) was shown as suspended and would restart, but never come up on my Windows box. Attempts to resume it would say it was already running. How do I get that session back to save the work that I was doing in it? Thanks!

Well? Any input on this issue? It really sucks if I keep losing sessions that won't recover...

Dave,

You posted your question to the wrong product Forum. I have moved your question to the GO-Global for UNIX forum. Please advise which version of GO-Global you are running. You can find out by issuing the command:

# /usr/local/graphon/bin/Xgo -version

If you are running version 2.0.x I would recommend you upgrade to our latest version, 2.1.1.

If this does not apply, it would also be helpful to get more specifics, such as an error log. If you are under maintenance, please open a support ticket via our online form at: http://www.graphon.com/support/unix-support-req.shtml

OK I wasn't sure which forum to post in for my situation...

Here's the version:
[05 Apr 12:05:39]: GraphOn GO-Global UX server version 2_1_0_603

I am on a Windows box running GraphOn from a UNIX box displayed to the Windows box.

Where would I find the error logs? On the windows box or UNIX box? I'm just the end user and the admins think losing sessions isn't a high enough priority so I have to do my own trouble shooting...

Thanks for the help!

Dave,

There are two sets of logs that we'd like to get. One is the system-wide log in ${GOGLOBAL_ROOT}/etc/gold.log, the other are per-session logs that are created in ${HOME}/.graphon/session-logs/goglobal-<hostname>:<display> (where "hostname" and "display" correspond to the session that had the problem).

The gold.log file logs all of the activity of the gold daemon, which manages starting, suspending, resuming, and stopping X sessions. Each X session gets its own log (the session log) in the user's home directory.

If you still have the CDE session running (even if you can't resume it), we would especially like to see that session log.

Thanks,
Troy

Troy,

Thanks, it looks like the logs have been deleted from that hung session and I killed it a long time ago. If/when this happens again, I'll get the logfiles.
