How to configure G-Global (unix) to allow users to save file open from the application to local PC and print the file via local printer instead of Go-Global server's printer?

There is currently no feature to allow access to the client filesystem with GO-Global for UNIX. We do offer a file transfer mechanism with the product (depending on the version of the product this is called 'gofile' or 'goget'/'goput').

We also offer a printing mechanism (via 'golpr' or 'goprint') that can transfer data to the client's printer. However, no formatting or rendering of the printed data is performed, so the data must be in a format that is recognized by the printer. For example, most UNIX applications output "printer" data as Postscript. Thus, to "goprint" this data directly, your printer (on the client) must support Postscript. We usually recommend the use of the UNIX 'ghostscript' system to render Postscript output into native formats for most printers.

That's mean a user need to save the file/report to the server first. After that, run the command gofile/goget/goput to save the file/report to the local PC and goprint to print the file/report from the local printer.

Please confirm.

That is correct. We have considered and continue to consider a drive-mapping functionality, although this may be much more difficult to do in UNIX than it is in our Windows product. Please note that goget/goput may be scripted to provide automatic transfer of files as well.

Finally, we continue to consider alternative printing mechanisms, but the unfortunate situation is that the UNIX printing model is not as unified as the Windows printer model, so it may not be possible for us to use the same approach on both products.
