Organize a License Server 5 Years ago Karma: 0
Hello,
I need to configure, in a HP-UX platform a GoGlobal system, but I have a doubt about the license configuration.
My Hosts are:
ServerA: License Server main (19 clients)
ServerB: License Server backup (for all the 19 clients)
Host1: GoGlobal server (for 7 clients)
Host2: GoGlobal server (for 6 clients)
Host3: GoGlobal server (for 6 clients)

Ordering a unique license for 19 clients, how I can do this :?:

P.S. In really it's not important for me to have a restricted number of users for each Host.

Thanks

Hello Carmine,

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I can offer some level of suggestions for you.

FlexLM does not allow for two servers to act as "backup" to one another. So in this situation you could purchase 38 licenses, place 19 on the main license server and 19 on the backup, and set up the licensing configuration of Host1, Host2, and Host3 to use ServerA first, and fall back to ServerB if there was a problem. You could also do this with fewer total licenses at the expense of how many could run the product while one license server was down. (FlexLM refers to this method as "Redundancy via License-File List".)

Ideally, for redundancy in licensing, you'd want to use FlexLM's 3-server redundancy, and either allocate an additional server (ServerC) to serve licenses, or just use Host1, Host2, and Host3 as license servers as well as GO-Global servers. (FlexLM refers to this method as "Three-Server Redundancy".

You can read more about the both redundancy models in the <a href="http://www.macrovision.com/services/support/enduser/chap4.htm#wp894300">FlexLM user's guide.</a>

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need anything else.
