Hi,

All my users are remote, non-technical laptop guys (mostly sales), and updating the Client Software isn't something they would find easy.

When the client software connects to the server, it could check the server's version and if the client version didn't match the host it could download and install the matching version.

A simpler method could be to check for the latest version from your website, but with compatibility issues with Windows updates, and busy admins leaving server updates until end of month, this would probably cause more problems than it fixed.

I know you'll probably tell me that they should be using the web based ActiveX client, but being (technically!) simple souls they find the desktop client more stable, faster and better integrated. i.e. unlikely to convince them to use the web portal.

Cheers,

Dave.

I have been asking for this for over a year. It seems like such an obvious thing. Who wants to update to the latest version when you have to have the users update clients.

I agree. We are about to push out a new version next week and we have over 200 remote users who all use the client. It would definitely make our lives easier. Now we are going to have to jump in and run the install ourselves (3 of us).
